The True Meaning of Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
ॐ
The most common misunderstanding about Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is that its sole purpose is to make a website rank number one for a desired keyword. This is an incorrect and limiting definition. SEO is, in fact, a comprehensive process of making your website more visible, accessible, and appealing to both search engines and, most importantly, users.
SEO is broadly categorized into three core areas:
* Technical SEO: This is the foundation. It focuses on the website's infrastructure to ensure search engines can easily crawl and index the site. Examples include server speed, having a proper sitemap, using HTTPS, and ensuring mobile-friendliness. While fixing internal broken links has an on-page effect, it is considered a technical health check for site structure.
* On-Page SEO: This deals with optimizing the content and the visible elements of a page. It involves optimizing the content within HTML tags (like the text in the Title Tag, Meta Description, and H1s) to be keyword-rich and engaging for users, as opposed to the technical code structure itself.
* Off-Page SEO: This involves activities outside your website to build its authority and credibility, primarily through acquiring high-quality backlinks from other reputable sites.
